ICE CONFERENCE UK PROGRAMME – 7 JULY 2022

ICE Conference took place live at Southbank Centre, London on 7 July 2022. The Conference focussed on the importance of Marketing and Event Planner collaboration in the New World and how to develop your skill sets to meet the demands of the technological revolution.

There were three keynote sessions and in between the sessions, there was a series of skills campfires where more one-on-one topics were discussed. The campfires took place twice throughout the day so delegates had the opportunity to cover a number of key topics. Each presenter gave us three key takeaways from their sessions which are beautifully illustrated in this infographic by DRPG.

Take a look at the 2022 programme below.  ICE Conference 23 will take place on 13th July 2023 and more details will be released next year.

COMPELLING EVENT CONTENT CREATION
Stellar content is at the heart of successful event planning. But it can require a wholly different and more time-consuming approach for staging hybrid events with a live and a remote audience to engage and inspire.

Adapting event content to be just inclusive to delegates in the room and on
the other side of the world can be a Herculean task. But it doesn't have to be with the know-how and tools of the trade.

This session addresses how components like animated content, pre-produced content and interactive gamification ignite hybrid events without taking double the time to deliver.

MASTERING HYBRID EVENT SUCCESS
The future is hybrid. But mastering hybrid events to perfection – that’s the burning question.

They’re twice as nice on multiple levels. But they can also be double trouble in terms of the extra planning, facilitation, outsourcing and new technology that are thrown into the mix.

During this campfire, our speaker
chats through their journey to planning leading-edge hybrid events. They will share the triumphs and the pitfalls of how they learned to implement immersive experiences that continue to have a strategic impact on live and remote audiences long after the closing speech has been delivered.

HOW TO ORGANISE A LEADERSHIP EVENT
It’s no wonder the term ‘thought leadership’ is being used more and more in the events sector. Bringing leaders together is business critical for the present and the future of any company or organisation.

But what does an awe-inspiring leadership event look like? Why is it different to organising other meetings,
conferences and events? And how should event planners approach leadership events from a different angle?

This session covers the key considerations for designing and delivering bold, purposeful events to captivate leaders and set the scene for future forward discussions and outcomes.

MANAGING AND EXCEEDING STAKEHOLDER EVENT EXPECTATIONS
Event organisation is an even more rewarding experience with highly engaged stakeholders supporting the events team towards a shared goal. To this end, stakeholder management is pivotal to event success, to event ROI and also to meeting overall business objectives.

But some event planners experience difficulties with getting stakeholders on
board. It can be the case with stakeholders who have never had dealings with events in a strategic capacity. They don't understand the value of events simply because they've never been party to real-time insights.

This session will explore how to instigate and nurture stakeholder engagement for amplified events success and also business success.

Keynote – National Grid – Global Youth Engineering Climate Conference

Keynote – National Grid – Global Youth Engineering Climate Conference
15.35 - 16.00 KEYNOTE SPEAKER 2
This is a story of inclusivity. It’s the story of how an innovative virtual experience, held in the run up to COP26, overcame geography to connect an audience of young engineers from 110 countries and inspired a greener energy future.

As a Principal Partner of COP26, National Grid sought to
engage an audience outside their normal focus. Working with Live Union, they brought together a community of nearly 2,000 young people around the green energy transition.

This case study shows how a sophisticated and highly creative experience connected people with one another and with new ideas. It demonstrates the valuable role that virtual experiences can continue to play in a post-pandemic event world.

Technology Now, AI Data Learning and the Metaverse. What should we know?

Technology Now, AI Data Learning and the Metaverse. What should we know?
16.40-17.00 Keynote 3
Event tech must have a purpose and be a support to the content, rather than be a distraction. Too much data is bad news unless you can start using it effectively for your stakeholders.

Nick Fagan, as Head of Technical Innovation and Special Projects at DRPG, will look at
what’s new in the tech world to support events. He will explore the exciting developments around the Metaverse and how we can apply new technologies in a practical way to support our events and our comms campaigns.

What have we learnt from the last two years? How can we extend the audience reach while reducing the need for travel and, more importantly, how do we ensure the technical solutions play a role in supporting and engaging the audience to create tangible outcomes rather than simply being a gimmick?
